For example, decarbonised power systems must be secure and cost-efficient. As critical societal systems, they must also be increasingly human-centred and deliver a ‘balanced scorecard’ of outcomes for society.
Fostering trust and establishing social licence for this scale and pace of change requires a new generation of multi-stakeholder participation and collaboration.

This involves comprehending the wider context in which the engagements exist, the systemic issues at stake and the key aspirations of the stakeholders, etc. It also often involves a key focus on the expanding range of sector couplings critical to future power systems such as water, transport, gas and hydrogen systems.
